Year of the Water Dragon – Happy Chinese New Year 2012
Chinese New Year customs and traditions are still followed (as far as I know), they are based on the
following:
- No sweeping or cleaning on the first of the New Year. It is believe that it will clean all the fortune and good luck from the house. It’s an absolute no! no!
- One must repay all your debts, to start afresh in the New Year. (wonder how many people can do that – probably not my clients)
- Chinese bosses to pay bonuses to their staff (well those who can afford to).
- Do not wash your hair on the first day (some believe its until the 15th day) as it will wash any good luck from you. (it is very tough, maybe for the first day but not for 15 days, considering that I have do not have that much hair anyway)
- Do not go to sleep on New Year until midnight, as this will ensure that our parents will outlive ourselves. (I will definitely try to do that).
- Do not let your children to cry and blubber on the first day, as this will mean they will be constantly crying or weeping the whole year. Do not be a cry baby!
- Set out firecrackers to chase away evil or bad spirits. (must remember to get some firecrackers).
- Put some sticky and sweet Chinese cakes so that you will have good things to tell the Kitchen God (or better not to say anything at all).
The main points are listed as above and we wish you longevity, wealth and prosperity for Year of the Dragon, Chinese New Year.
