The Guild of the Cowry Catchers, a story of pirates and Panamindorah - Complete 5-Book Series

Guild of Cowry Catchers, series
I read "The Guild of the Cowry Catchers, Book 1" (review) and I was so over-whelmed and impressed by it (by far, one of the best books I have enjoyed in years) that without reading even a sample of the rest of the series, I happily purchased the whole 5 books in the series.

However, though I still enjoyed the full series, I have to say that Book 1 was the very best and the rest (Book 2 to Book 5) was less than top notch.

The story line still hooked me and I did read every page. However the m/m "love scenes" was unexpected but what really started to get a bit nauseating was the frequency and details of them.

From full blown characters with depth, one main character (I won't give away who it was but it is not hard to figure out) just degenerated overly much into a whimpering 8-year old insecure being. The other main character, being so heavily entwined with the first, did not fair all that much better: marginally, but not by much.

I love love scenes as much as the next person, but really, for me, the books lost much of its brilliance by an over preponderance of "love scences" that really did not add much to the characters nor to the story line. The reverse, actually.

So like I said - enjoyable series but with a touch of nausea.
